A global organization undertook a large-scale ERP transformation across finance, operations, procurement, and commercial functions, spanning 6 continents and 35 countries.


Challenge

Before joinging the programme, the first pilot go-live was rejected by users due to poor UX and required a complete re-design with end-users. The re-design introduced additional vendors, layered with diverse regional legal requirements and three parallel rollout teams. 

 

The challenge was clear: with already dissatisfied end-users, how to deliver on time and within scope when 70–90% of similar transformations fail?


Results

1. Clear governance and ways of working from day one

A robust governance and communication model was established early, featuring a strong Global SteerCo, structured meeting cadence, and clearly defined decision-making forums. This enabled prioritization, transparency, and momentum - even when hard choices had to be made.


2. Team building as a deliberate practice

For each rollout, team cohesion was prioritized rather than treated as an afterthought. We built trust, understanding, and mutual respect across nationalities, time zones, and collaboration styles. Even in remote settings, investing in relationships proved essential.


3. Bi-annual Alignment Workshops™️

Every six months, supported by the Rapid Solution WorkshopTM process and technology, the core project team gathered to reflect, align, and refine. These sessions ensured lessons learned were applied continuously, knowledge silos were avoided, and the team moved forward with a shared understanding rather than relying on local best guesses.

The transformation has reshaped how the business works, creating one consistent way of operating across finance, procurement, and commercial.
